Truck-mounted

Aerial work platform so-called aerial device uses many position sensors.

1. Boom

For the purpose of operating the telescopic boom within the safety angle range to avoid the overturning of the vehicle by the weight of the boom and the aerial platform, many position sensors are installed on the telescopic boom. 

a. Boom Length
The multi-turn position sensor is used for the detection of boom length of the telescopic boom.

 

 

 

 

 

 

b. Boom Angle
For monitoring and detecting the operating angle of the boom, inclinometer or angle sensor is used.

2. Turntable

To determine the operating direction of the boom, the turntable located under the boom mechanism is rotated. the multi-turn position sensor or angle position sensor are used to measure the rotation angle or the number of rotations of the turntable.

3. Outrigger

Moreover, by using the outriggers that are installed at the for corners of the vehicle, it increases the stability of the vehicle and expands the safe operating area of the telescopic boom.
The linear position sensor or inclinometer is used to monitor/ measure the drawer position of the outriggers.

 

4. Vehicle Body

In addition, monitoring the inclination of the vehicle itself would increase the stability of the vehicle and increase the safety of the workers who are working within the aerial platform.
The inclinometer has been installed as the overturning prevention device of the vehicle.

5. Platform

a. Platform control box/ Control foot pedal
Workers are able to operate the height, the direction, and the operating speed of the boom from the platform by using a control box and control foot pedal installed on the platform.
Angle sensors are installed in the joysticks of the control box for measuring the angle of the lever and the stepping angle of the foot pedal.

b. Platform Pan/Tilt
The platform is able to be rotated horizontally during operation and move vertically to remain the platform horizontally or when it is at the stored state during non-operation.
To monitor the platform’s angle, the angle position sensor or the multi-turn angle position sensor is used.

CP-45FB Series is a contact type potentiometer. The output resolution is virtually infinite for use in applications that need a narrow-angle measurement or smooth motion control. CP-45H Series: Contactless Angle Precision Potentiometer
CP-45H is a contactless type of CPP-45B and CP-45FB conductive plastic potentiometer that offers the selection of various analog output such as ratio output, voltage output, or 4-20mA current output. It is used as a steering angle sensor for AVG, or angle sensor for engine remote control for the vessel.

CP-2HA Series: Contactless Angle Precision Potentiometer

QP-3HB Series: Contactless Angle Precision Potentiometer
QP-3HB series is a robust angle sensor enclosed a metal housing. It is used as the clutch stroke sensor and the pedal position sensor for vehicles, especially trucks, buses, and construction vehicles.
CP-3HABS Series: Contactless Angle Precision Potentiometer
CP-3HABS is a low-cost version of QP-3HB series enclosed in a plastic housing. The application is the clutch stroke sensor like QP-3HB, the angular position sensor of the joystick, and so on.
